Vaibhav Lakshmi : Introductions, Importance, 8 Incarnations of Goddess Lakshmi, Rules of Vrat, Aati & Video

Introduction

Vaibhav Lakshmi is one of the manifestations of Goddess Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth) in Hinduism. Goddess Lakshmi has different names as per her eight forms- Dhanya Lakhsmi, Gaja Lakshmi, Adi Lakshmi,Vijaya Lakshmi, Aishwarya Lakshmi, Veera Lakshmi, Dhan Lakshmi and Santan Lakhmi. It is believed that 'Shri Yantra'(a mystic pictorial of geometrical figures, numbers and words) is Goddess Lakshmi's favorite and the yantra bestows health, wealth and prosperity to the who adorns it or worships it. Vaibhav Lakshmi Vrat is a popular fast among Indian women, observed for 11 or 21 fridays, in which they consume food or water only at their home and take meals once a day preferably. There are many stories of miracles or benefits which people observed when they did the Vaibhav Lakshmi Vrat

Importance of Vaibhava Lakshmi Vrata

  • Devotees who undertake the vrat of goddess Lakshmi with faith and sincerity are sure to achieve whatever they desire.
  • Men and women can observe this vrat. Vrat should be observed for 11 or 21 Friday as per one's oath. Vrat should be observed on Fridays only. One should be on fast on the day of observing the Vrat. It is preferred to have meals (veg) once a day and the sweet dish that is offered to goddess Lakshmi.
  • If for any cause the vrat is not maintained, i.e.; (if one has to go on a tour or any consequent untouchability owing to death in the family or if the women is in menses on the Friday) they can observe the vrat the following Friday at one's residence only.
  • At the time of the celebration of the Vrat, ie; on completing 11 or 21 Fridays as decided at the time of oath, one should give the book "VAIBHAV LAKSHMI VRAT" to 7,11, 21, 51 or 101 women according to one's own desire or take a printout and distribute copies of this Vaibhav Lakshmi Vrat and thus the vrat of goddess Vaibhav Lakshmi would spread more and more
The 8 incarnations of Goddess Lakshmi are as follows:

  1. Dhana Lakshmi
  2. Shri Gaja Lakshmi
  3. Shri Aadhi Lakshmi
  4. Shri Vijaya Lakshmi
  5. Shri Aaishwarya Lakshmi
  6. Shri Veera Lakshmi
  7. Shri Dhanya Lakshmi
  8. Shri Santan Lakshmi

Rules of Vrat

  • If married women observe this Vrat, they achieve the award. If there is no married woman in the family, any woman or unmarried girl can observe this Vrat.
  • If a man observes this Vrat instead of a woman, he also achieves the award in the same way.
  • One should observe this Vrat with full faith and pious conception, not by dislike or without intense desire.
  • Vrat should be observed according to the rites prescribed by Shashtras for eleven or twenty-one Friday as per one’s oath. It should be celebrated according to Shashtras performing proper ceremonies after the observance of Vrat on Friday as decided at the time of the oath. This ceremony is very simple to be preformed. If the Vrat is not observed according to proper ceremony described by the Shastras, one does not achieve its award or fruit.
  • After having once observed the Vrat, it can be observed again taking the oath devotedly.
  • Goddess Laxmiji has innumerable incarnations. Among all, ‘Shri Yantra’ Amulet of Goddess Laxmi is very beloved to her. Her incarnation of Dhan Laxmi itself is Vaibhava Laxmi. One should bow down one’s head to each and every incarnation of Goddess Laxmi given above. And also, while observing the Vrat one should pay homage to Shri Yantra. Then only it is fulfilled. If one doesn’t want to take the least trouble to observe Vrat, Goddess Laxmi also doesn’t take any trouble for her or him and she doesn’t show any mercy to such person.
  • On the day of observance of the Vrat, from morning one should utter ‘Jai Goddess Laxmi’ or ‘Jai Ma Laxmi’ at heart as many times as possible.
  • If one has to go on tour or outside the residence on Friday, one should observe the Vrat the next Friday at one’s residence only. One should observe the Vrat for as many Friday as decided by oneself at the time of oath.
  • The silver ornament should be utilized if one has no golden ornament for observing the Vrat. One should place a rupee coin if one has no silver ornament.
  • At the time of the celebration of the Vrat one should give the book ‘Vaibhava Laxmi Vrat’ to seven, eleven, twenty-one, fifty one or hundred and one women according to one’s own desire. (Goddess Laxmi would bless you more if you give more books as gifts to more women, and the Vrat of Goddess Laxmiji would spread more and more.
  • If the woman is in menses or having ceremonial defilement and consequent untouchability owing to death in the family on the Friday, one should observe the Vrat the following Friday. And at the end, one should observe the Vrat for as many Friday as decided at the time of oath.
  • In the beginning of observing the Vrat, one should recite once the hymn or praise the Goddess Laxmi.
  • One should be on fast on the day of observing the Vrat on Friday, and should eat the sweet dish offered to Goddess Laxmiji. One may eat fruits or take meals once a day. The weak persons may observe the Vrat having food twice a day. The important thing is that one should have full faith and devotion in Laxmiji that Goddess would certainly fulfill the desire. Most important point to note is one doing the Vaibhav Lakshmi vrat should do it with full faith, and emotion. Confidently pray taking an oath that Mother will fulfill my desire.

Tourism In Kalimpong : Introduction, History, Places to visit near Kalimpong ( MacFarlane Church, Durpin Dara, Deolo Hill, etc), Map

Introduction

Area :36,021 sq. km
Language:Bengali, Nepali, Hindi and English
Best time to visit:April-June
STD Code :03552

The first thing that strikes the traveler visiting Kalimpong is its quiet atmosphere. The peaceful ambience that pervades is heightened by the presence of monasteries and churches across the town. Kalimpong is also known for its bustling bazaars and traditional handicrafts. It is famous for its orchids and nurseries. Kalimpong offers panoramic view of the great Himalayan ranges that lie beyond it.

History

The etymology of Kalimpong has several interpretations. According to one view, Kalimpong means a place where tribesmen gather and organize traditional tribal games. The second view suggests that the name has been derived from a place in Bhutan. A third interpretation is that Kalimpong is named after Kaulim, a fibrous plant found in abundance in this region.

Until the 18th century AD, Kalimpong was a part of the Kingdom of Sikkim and was ruled by Sikkimese rulers. It was then taken over by the Bhutanese. In the 19th century, the British took over Kalimpong and merged into the present Indian state of West Bengal.

Places to visit in and around Kalimpong:

The MacFarlane Church: a testimony of the Scottish missionaries’ influence and a monument of Kalimpong’s diverse history, Dr. Graham’s Home, which was founded in 1880 by Dr. John A. Graham, is a sprawling educational institution built on Deolo Hill north of the main township. It stands testimony to Kalimpong’s European influence. It has its own dairy, bakery, poultry farm and vegetable gardens. It is a fitting example of community life, an enthralling experience indeed.

Durpin Dara: an observatory point from where a truly spectacular view of the Himalaya can be enjoyed. This along with the panoramic view of the Teesta and Relli rivers, and the plains far below, provide visitors with a memorable sight. The many flowers nurseries in Kalimpong are known for the diversity of Himalayan flora they house, most of which are exported. For those with an interest in floriculture, a trip to a few of these nurseries is worthwhile.

Zong Dhog Palri Fo Brang monastery: situated near Durpin Dara is another attraction of the area. Tharpa Choeling monastery, built in 1937, belongs to the yellow hut sect of lamas and is another must see. It is situated on Tirpai hill, about 2 km from the main town.

Pedong monastery: built around 1837, is of Bhutanese origin, while a kilometer away is the historical Bhutanese fort of Damsang, an important landmark of the area before the main town of Kalimpong came into prominence. Thongsa monastery is also of Bhutanese origin and was built around 1692, making it the oldest monastery in the region.

Kalimpong Arts & Craft Center: founded in 1897 by Mrs. Graham, is a thriving center where carpet weaving, dyeing, painting, tailoring, leather craft and carpentry are taught, besides promoting the work of local artisans and craftsmen. The Gouripur House, a summer retreat of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, is where he penned many unforgettable poems.

Deolo Hill : one of the numerous hill destinations that warrant a visit. A perfect picnic spot replete with a splendid tourist lodge, run by the Department of Tourism, DGHC. A stay here is definitely recommended as the early morning view of the sun lighting up the Khangchendzonga massif is a marvelous example of nature at her best, a heart stopping sight indeed.

Mangal Dham Mandir:Sprawling over an area of two acres and built in 1993, Mangal Dham is considered to be one of the most splendid temples in India. It is the ground floor of the Dham, where lies the "samadhi" of their revered Guruji. The prayer hall is on the top floor, where the idol of Raj Shyamaji is found, flanked on either side by the Revered Prannath and Shri 108 Guru Mangaldasji. Both the sides of the prayer hall has a vivid picturesque story of Nijanandacharya Shri Devchandraji, meeting Lord Krishna, Rev. Prannathji blessing the brave Bundela Chhatrasal Maharaj and other scenes from the Krishna Leela.
